Yadu

Yadu was the famous ancestor of the Yadu-vanśa or the Yādava clan. He was the eldest son of the king Yayāti and his queen Devayānī, daughter of Sukrācārya, the teacher of the asuras. Since he refused to take the old-age of his father in exchange for his youth, he lost his right to succeed his father. Kṛṣṇa belonged to his clan.
