Colonial Discourse and the Suffering of Indian American Children Book Cover.webp

In this book, we analyze the psycho-social consequences faced by Indian American children after exposure to the school textbook discourse on Hinduism and ancient India. We demonstrate that there is an intimate connection—an almost exact correspondence—between James Mill’s colonial-racist discourse (Mill was the head of the British East India Company) and the current school textbook discourse. This racist discourse, camouflaged under the cover of political correctness, produces the same psychological impacts on Indian American children that racism typically causes: shame, inferiority, embarrassment, identity confusion, assimilation, and a phenomenon akin to racelessness, where children dissociate from the traditions and culture of their ancestors.

Maya Ke O Pujari Aage Ki kuch khabar Hai

From Hindupedia, the Hindu Encyclopedia

Translated by P. R. Ramachander

Maya ke o pujari aage ki kuchh khabar hai
Is ghar se aur aage ek dusara bhi ghar hai – 2

Hey, priest of illusion, is there any further news?
Is there one more home beyond this home?

Itna na zulm kar tu dharti bhi kaap jaye
Warna tu dukhi ki aahe tera Nisha mitaye - 2
Ab bhi zara sambhal ja darr maut ka agar hai
Is ghar se aur aage ek dusra bhi ghar hai
Maya ke o pujari aage ki kuch khabar hai
Is ghar se aur aage ek dusra bhi ghar hai

Do not do so much crime that even the world starts shivering,
If not, you would be sorrowful, and your identity would be destroyed,
At least now take care of yourself; if you have a fear of death,
Is there one more home beyond this home?
Hey, priest of illusion, is there any further news? Is there one more home beyond this home?

Jo paap kargaye the aur ab bhi kar rahe hai
Kutte ki maut dekho vo paapi mar rahe hai
Mar kar na chain paaye papo ka ye asar hai
Is ghar se aur aage ek dusra bhi ghar hai
Maya ke o pujari aage ki kuch khabar hai
Is ghar se aur aage ek dusra bhi ghar hai

If you have done some sins and also doing sins now,
Please see the death of a dog; it is dying as a sinner,
Even after death, it will not get peace, for that is the effect of sin,
Is there one more home beyond this home?
Hey, priest of illusion, is there any further news?
Is there one more home beyond this home?

Kyu bhoolta hai usko ek din padega jaana
Mahalo ko chhod kar pagale jangal mein ho thikana - 2
Kuchh to saaman karle lamba bada safar hai
Is ghar se aur aage ek dusra bhi ghar hai
Maya ke o pujari aage ki kuch khabar hai
Iss ghar se aur aage ek dusra bhi ghar hai

Why do you forget him for one day you will have to know,
Leaving these mansions. oh, mad one, you will have to camp in the forest,
Pack at least some things, for the journey is a long one,
Is there one more home beyond this home?
Hey, priest of illusion, is there any further news?
Is there one more home beyond this home?

Ravan vo kansh bali be maut mar gaye hai
Tulsi va sur meera mar kar bhi tar gaye hai - 2
Pusto ka naam duba hari bhakat sab amar hai
Is ghar se aur aage ek dusra bhi ghar hai
Maya ke o pujari aage ki kuch khabar hai
Is ghar se aur aage ek dusra bhi ghar hai

Even Ravana, Kamsa, and Bali have attained death,
Tulsidas, Sur das, and Meera, even after their death, have become stars,
The names of the strong ones got drowned in their death. and all devotees are there forever,
Is there one more home beyond this home?
Hey, priest of illusion, is there any further news?
Is there one more home beyond this home?
