  2. a Hindu mathematician and astronomer (598 – 668 CE) who authored the pioneering and seminal work Brahmasphutasiddhāanta which deals with many important inventions of formulas and properties by him, and which was the primary source and medium of the Arabs for getting introduced to Hindu astronomy. His most well-known and important geometric theorem is known as the Brahmagupta Theorem after him.
