Abhiṣeka

Abhiṣeka literally means ‘pouring or sprinkling holy water’.

It is the unction rite in the Rājasuya sacrifice. The word is also used to indicate the ceremonial hath given to the duly consecrated images in temples. This part of the puja is accompanied by Vedic chants.
